Mr. Koushik Sarkar is a seasoned corporate leader with more than 35 years of experience across the paints, building materials, construction, and specialty chemicals industries. Over the last 15 years, he has successfully led organizations with full P&L responsibility, driving business growth, market turnarounds, and organizational transformation across India, Asia, and Europe.

An alumnus of IIT Kharagpur (B.Tech) and IIM Bangalore (MBA), Mr. Sarkar began his career at Asian Paints and later at ICI Paints (now Akzo Nobel). During his nine-year tenure, he managed diverse regional markets across India and conceptualized Colour Solutions, a pioneering retail model that repositioned paints from a hardware product into a desirable interior décor solution. He also led major process re-engineering and SAP projects that enhanced profitability and efficiency.

His career accelerated with Saint-Gobain Construction Products, where he held several leadership positions in India, France, and Thailand. As Group Marketing Manager in Paris, he spearheaded a global marketing excellence program based on lean principles, institutionalized CRM systems, and transformed pricing into a strategic business driver. As Business Director for Ceilings in Asia, he oversaw multi-country teams and expanded the business footprint across Asia and Australia.

In 2011, he joined USG Corporation to establish its presence in India, building a team, setting up manufacturing, and later acquiring and integrating Boral India to create USG Boral India. As CEO & MD of USG Knauf, he led the merger of USG and Boral operations, executed a turnaround strategy, and tripled revenues within three years—culminating in a ₹300 crore investment in a new manufacturing facility.

He subsequently took over as President of Everest Industries, leading strategic growth in the building materials sector, before joining Omya South Asia as President. At Omya, he grew the minerals (calcium carbonate) business while setting up a specialty chemicals distribution network across the region.

Currently, as Chief Growth Officer at ASM StratConsult LLP, Mr. Sarkar brings his rich global experience in growth strategy, organizational transformation, and customer-centric leadership to help businesses unlock sustainable value. He is widely respected for building high-performance teams, driving innovation, and aligning business strategy with long-term stakeholder success.
